Aimless Running

26 Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air.

There's a huge difference when it comes to being busy and actually getting things done! Paul probably understood this best as we can read in the verse above. He didn't want to aimlessly run around and not accomplish anything. He knew that it would not produce fruit and he didn't want to waste his precious time "beating the air".

I'll admit that I have been guilty of this in the past. That I was just so "busy" and running around that I truly did feel like I was beating the air and not giving my all in the things I was doing. But I am glad to say in the last couple of days (after reading this verse) I have started the slow and painful process of "trim work". Finding the things in my life that don't really bring God the full glory he deserves. I've began cutting those things out so that I can better focus my time and energy on purpose driven running. Fighting the enemy instead of the air!

I challenge you to read this verse and find the things in your life that are draining you. What is it that takes your time and energy without any payoff? Kingdom Payoff not personal payoff.

Are you aimlessly running and beating the air?
