How Soft Is Your Pillow?

There is no pillow so soft as a clear conscience. ~ French Proverb

Seems like some good food for thought doesn't it? It also sounds like something  you would hear your grandma tell you. Good ol' grandma, she always had something smart to say.

But perhaps this isn't just some great, witty french proverb or just good grandmotherly advice. Could it be that this is also Biblical?

Psalm 4:4
4 In your anger do not sin;
when you are on your beds,
search your hearts and be silent.

Here we find some godly advice on how to improve your quality of sleep. I knew the Bible covered most of everything but sleep habits as well?!
 
What this scripture is trying to tell us is very similar to the french proverb. That laying on your bed at the end of the day is the perfect time to search your heart and see how you did.
 
Did you sin in your anger?
 
How about when that co-worker stole your idea and you lost that much needed promotion?
 
Or how about when that person cut you off in traffic on the way home?
 
Psalm 4:4 reminds us that we need to be thinking more often about how we act and react in our daily lives. It reminds us that we need to search our hearts and be silent, thinking about how we can improve our witness as well as our quality of sleep!

I Still Sin...

I still sin need Jesus!

Watch Out For Snakes!!

Perfect place to let your kids play huh?

At least they give you a warning!

But as I was thinking about how stupid you would have to be to let your kids play in that playground back there and just totally ignore the warning sign, it made me realize what we do all the time.

As sinners, we might find ourselves playing in sin. Even though we know we shouldn't and even though we know that God tells us that it is bad for us we still, like small children, find ourselves enticed by the lure of a good time.

The temptation is just too great for us to overcome sometimes. We must make our way to that playground and have a "good time". And all the while the warning sign stands and serves the purpose of letting us know what really might happen to us.

Isn't it so funny that while looking at this picture your first thought might have been, "okay we are out of here"! But why is it so hard for us to listen to God's warnings when sin is just so darn tempting?

God tells us to "watch out for snakes" and yet all we can think about is getting to play in that "playground" so we can have a "good time".

Thank God that Jesus died for our sins. Thank you God for all the warnings and thank you Jesus for rescuing us in our unsafe "playgrounds."
