A New Perspective

I've been thinking a lot lately. About a number of things really, and the one thing that keeps reoccurring to me is my perspective.

How do you view the events that you find yourself in lately?

For me I've been trying to see EVERYTHING from a different perspective than I used to. And I must say it has changed the way I approach things drastically!

Often times, our point of view says more about us than it does the circumstance upon which we are commenting…

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside. “That laundry is not very clean”, she said. “She doesn’t know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.”

Her husband looked on, but remained silent.

Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same comments.

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband: “Look, she has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this.”
The husband said, “I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows.”

That story was stolen from a blog that I've been reading a lot lately called Deadly Viper. It deals a lot with Character development and how to stay strong in Integrity. I would encourage you to check it out when you get a chance.

Our perspectives can make us or break us, literally!

I love this scripture found in Ecclesiastes 10:10 (NLT)

10 Using a dull ax requires great strength, so sharpen the blade. That’s the value of wisdom; it helps you succeed.

If we continue in a dull perspective our weapon will be less effective. But if we sharpen the blade (change our perspective so to speak) then that is what will help us succeed.

Do you need to sharpen your blade?
