The Pursuit, Part 2

1 Timothy 6:11

2.) Godliness

The pursuit of godliness can be summed up like this... Decreasing the pattern of sin in your life.

To have a godliness characteristic about you requires you to take away the one thing that causes you to be ungodly and that one thing is sin.

Paul tells Timothy to pursue godliness not only for his benefit but also for the benefit of others.

1 timothy 2:2-4

that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

To live a life that represents godliness is good for you but it is also a good example for others because it leads them to a knowledge of the truth. That is what Paul was trying to get Timothy to realize. That not only does it improve his own life but it also will lead others to Christ.

One way to tell if you are pursuing godliness is to take notice of your lifestyle. Is there a decreased pattern of sin in your life?

Did you realize that to live a life of godliness leads others to a knowledge of the truth?
