Christian or Christ Follower?

Are you a "Christian" or a Christ Follower?

This video illustrates what a lot of people are dealing with today. An Identity crisis. So many Christians feel that they are a part of something or that the label is what it is that makes the salvation and that simply isn't true.

The true identity we need to be thinking about is to be a Christ Follower not necessarily "Christian".

Jesus said to follow him (Luke 9:23). To just simply follow him. To take up that cross daily and follow him.

He didn't say that we must fill our cars with bumper stickers, wear a different Christian T-shirt everyday or that we had to carry a stack of Christian books with us everywhere we go. He said to just simply follow him.

And yet many of us who are doing all these things and visibly wearing Christ on our sleeves are secretly not following Him or daily carrying our cross.

You see it all boils down to what is on the inside, not what is on the outside. It is very easy to show your "Christianity" by showing it off but Jesus warned us about making the outside look good while the inside is just filthy...

Matthew 23:26-28

26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

27 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. 28In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

You can't help but sometimes wonder what the Pharisees felt like when Jesus called them out on this can you?

But would Jesus be able to call you out on this as well?

  1. I LOVE the line "What do you wear to show your Christianity?".....

I'll go with Erica's answer - we should be wearing Jesus....nothing else matters!

    Love that video!
