The Results Are In!

Poll number two was a success with 9 people voting, (thanks to all) but the results sadly aren't that shocking.

It seems as though what the majority of us already knew has just been reconfirmed. That is, that Christians wear two really nasty labels called Judgmental and Hypocritical.

It's no secret and nothing new that we've been wearing these labels for some time now. We say one thing or confess that we believe one thing and next thing you know we're out doing the opposite of what we just said. In other words, we talk the talk but don't walk the walk.

Judgmental received the highest number of votes with 5 for 55% overall. The word alone stings a little doesn't it? How can we judge others when we can't know their hearts like only Jesus could?

Hypocrite received 4 votes for 44% overall. A hypocrite is one who tends to hide behind "masks" or maybe just doesn't have a solid or firm foundation for their beliefs yet. Either way what they say is conditional, it isn't solid and Hypocrites can seldom be trusted.

So what can we do to fix this image problem?
  1. Stop living for ourselves and start living for Jesus! I don't see how anyone in the world could have a label like one of these attached to them if they are truly living for Jesus and not themselves. To live for Jesus also means to live like Jesus. And the Jesus I know never seemed to have any of these labels attached to His name. In fact it was quite the opposite. We must band together and start representing who we are living like. Jesus or self?

  2. Stop living the "Holier Than Thou" life! We should never live a lifestyle where we think that we are God's gift to _______ (you fill in the blank). The best thing we can hope for is to not live Holier Than Thou but Holier Than Me! We've got to change our attitude to one that is constantly wanting to improve our own spiritual walk instead of raining down wrath and judgment on the ones that need our love and affection, not our bitterness and self-righteousness. We are to build bridges not burn them.

  3. Romans 2:3 says it best. This scripture ties both Hypocrisy and Judging together and if this doesn't get your attention I don't know what else will!

We may not be able to change the views of all of Christianity but we can change the labels that we might be carrying. It's time to start living an attitude of "Holier Than Me"!

  1. It reminds me of the quote "The greatest cause of atheism in the world today is Christians".

As Christians we need to check ourselves every day!

    Good post buddy!
