As a youth leader and since being called into ministry I've been leaning more and more on these two scriptures...
Psalm 40:9-10 (NLT)
I have told all your people about your justice.
I have not been afraid to speak out,
as you, O Lord, well know.
I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart;
I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power.
I have told everyone in the great assembly
of your unfailing love and faithfulness.
2 Peter 1:5-9 (NLT)
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God's promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.
The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.
I want to be this type of leader. Always willing to speak out and speak of how faithful the Lord is and has been in my life. I want to grow more and more in my knowledge of our Lord. Thankfully I can lean on these words when I need them.
What are some of the scriptures that you turn to?
As a leader, I really found encouragement in Ephesians 6:19 "Pray also for me that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given to so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should!"
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, my all time favorite - Romans 8:31 "If God is for us - who can be against us?"
Whenever I can feel Satan tugging at me, I always go simple with Matthew 4:10 which is "Away from me, Satan!" This isn't the entire verse, but it works!!! It is such a comfort to know that when we use the Word against Satan, he cowers from the arrows of the Almighty!
ReplyDeleteI also use the Romans 8:31 like Rebecca. I think that is the first verse I ever memorized, and it is a great one! Of course, they all are...
