What's Been Bothering Me Lately

Okay, so for the first time ever on my blog I'm going to unload. I want to say what's been on my heart for the longest time.

I have an incredible burden for the future of our country. It's starting to really take it's toll on me and I mean I can't shake it.

You see the direction our county is heading and as a Christian you know in your heart that it doesn't resemble the Christian principles this country was founded upon, and maybe like me, it burdens you too. But are you really burdened yet?

Does the possibility of government health care scare you? Does it worry you that your elderly relatives might be denied the same rights as someone who is 25 years old simply because of the fact that they will be looked upon as a "burden to society"?

I think about my aunt who has down syndrome and wonder what her future might look like under a health care system that caters to "the greater good".

What about those with cerebral palsy or something like that?

Why has it become such a crime for people to gather and express their thoughts about something that will effect the rest of their lives? Lately it seems that freedom of speech has come under fire and if you dare speak against what big government has planned then you are just part of an "unruly mob".

Where are the freedoms that our forefathers, fathers, brothers, cousins, uncles and all family members fought and died for??

Are we going to sit back and watch our country lose every bit of God that it was founded upon?

So many more things I could say about what's been on my heart lately, but you get the idea.

It just seems to me AS CHRISTIANS we need to be the ones who are most vocal on the issues. It was by God's grace that Christians founded this country and set up it's original workings to be as such. In my opinion it's going take Christians to keep it that way.

So my burden is the future that's being created right this very moment for our little ones. Our Emily, Julie's Isaac, Rachel's Emma, Chandra's Camden, and all you others who know me who have little one's.

I don't mean to call your family out but only want you to know how much you and your family mean to me. As a Christian and as an American I worry for their future.

Perhaps the only thing to put a worried mind to rest in all this though is knowing that no matter what happens, our relationship with Christ is the only thing that determines our future. So as I sit and try to unpack this burden that's been ripping me up lately, the only thing I find comfort in is knowing that no matter what, I've got a savior who has my future in His hands.

That's all the comfort I need or will ever need. But it doesn't mean I sit back and let my country that was founded FOR God become another Godless wasteland.

That's what's been bothering me lately, what about you?

  1. I guess for me - I need to become more aware... I dont like politics & the way its handled & so I avoid it - I dont even KNOW anything about this health care plan... so I guess this is a wake up call for me to get my head out of the sand. Because you are right - these little ones coming up - we need to lay down a path for them that is going to provide & take care of them ALL!!!!

  2. I 100% agree with you. I would love to be involed but I just hate how ugly politicans get. It seems as though noone is allowed to express their own opinion without someone attacking your mom or calling out what you kids do. I openly disagree with our president but yet he is our elected president so I will respect that power but I will respectfully disagree with almost every word that comes out of his mouth. I do care and am aware of alot of things but that is why I tend to stay out.

  3. My mom said the other day that it was a good thing my dad already has his heart surgery and his hips replaced because under the current administration and with his age, it might never has been done.... and you know... since his hips have been replaced his is STILL working every day and he is 78 years old!!!! Without the surgery he would be wheelchair bound by now! Just because you are over 65 DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU ARE READY TO BE PUT DOWN!!!!! And you are right Joe, what about Michael??? What about my grands (including your Emily :) of course!!) What will they reap out of all of this... I don't mind openly disagreeing with the president... and I'll say outright that I just don't care of his political party either... and as for respect... well I was raised believeing that you only GET respect when you do something to GAIN it... and so far... I'm not seeing much to build respect on!!!!
