NOTORIOUS Sinners OFTEN Came...

I find it amazing how Jesus attracted sinners so much.

Luke 15:1 (NLT)

1 Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach.

Two things to recognize in this scripture...

1.) Jesus attracted Notorious sinners. (Literally the worst of the worst and most recognized)

2.) They often came to listen to Him teach.

How awesome is that?

If you really think about it Jesus must have been the most awesome person to listen to. How did He go about attracting the very worst of sinners so often? What was His style? And didn't He often condemn the religious leaders and Pharisee's?

We see glimpses throughout scripture of how Jesus taught but I wonder if maybe the passion in which He taught with is somehow overlooked. I mean, if you think about it, the worst of sinners must have felt a genuine concern from Jesus. Why else would they come back to hear him?

I wonder if the love and passion Jesus showed in his teachings had more to do with this attracting success than maybe the words he was using. Maybe it was HOW Jesus said it rather than WHAT he said.

I want to issue a challenge to all my teacher/leader/pastor friends out there....

If you are reading this and you teach or lead a group of people, young or old, in any way, pay attention to this scripture for a minute. What do you think it was that attracted the very worst of sinners to listen to Jesus?

Do you think it was HOW He did things rather than WHAT He did?

How could this lesson, (putting HOW over WHAT) help you?
