MORAL COURAGE

I was flipping through a book today called Under God. It's a book that tells stories of America's spiritual battle's, starting from the foundation of our country to today's modern times. Needless to say it has a lot of inspirational stories and makes you thankful for what we sometimes take for granted here in America. I was flipping through and reading some of the quotes (I love to read quotes from famous figures in American history) when I came across this very true statement from Mark Twain.

It is curious that physical courage should be
so common in the world and moral courage so rare.
-Mark Twain
.
Isn't this just the most precise quote you've heard concerning the way our world is today? You can't go anywhere without hearing news that violence is more widespread than it used to be and that people are doing things that are so morally corrupt. It's a sad thing indeed when the things we used to think wouldn't happen are happening everyday and people act as though it's okay or that it isn't that big of a deal.
.
It's one thing to be physically courageous and to be really strong, especially when the world tells us that you have to be in order to be someone. But it's another thing altogether when no one wants to take a stand for moral courage. Until the rest of the nation and the world realizes this it will only continue to be corrupt. The sad thing about it all is that moral courage is what this nation was founded on. Somehow we've gotten so far away from that that it doesn't even get considered anymore. Since we are starting a new year I call upon everyone who may be reading this to join me and start bringing moral courage back into the picture. Let's show everyone around us that moral courage is still present in our world today and that we aren't going to let it slip away!

  1. I'm on-board! And it's hard to believe that it only took one generation after our founding for things to start going horribly awry. It was like the vision wasn't communicated clearly and passed on to the next generation. I encourage all parents to be mindful of that!
